Safety Rules That Could Save Your Pom's Life

Get down on their level. Literally get on the floor and look around. You'll spot choking hazards, things they can reach, and dangers you'd never notice from standing height.
Never leave them unsupervised outside. Hawks, coyotes, owls, neighborhood dogs—your Pom is prey-sized. They should never be in the yard alone, even for a minute.
Secure your trash cans. Dogs dig through garbage and eat stuff that kills them. Chicken bones, chocolate wrappers, moldy food—keep trash behind closed doors or locked lids.
Watch them around kids. Children don't mean to hurt dogs, but they do. Kids can drop Poms, step on them, squeeze too hard, or provoke a bite. Always supervise.
Keep medications locked up. Pills look like treats to dogs. Even one Advil or Tylenol can be fatal for a Pomeranian. Store all meds in cabinets they can't access.
Check fences religiously. Poms are escape artists. They'll squeeze through gaps, dig under fences, or find weak spots you didn't know existed. Inspect your yard often.
