Grooming Essentials Every Owner Should Know

Brush daily or deal with mats. Yeah, it's a pain. But 10 minutes of brushing beats having to shave out painful mats that your Pom will hate you for.
Never shave a Pomeranian. Seriously. Their double coat protects them. Shaving it can permanently wreck the coat and leave them with weird bald spots forever.
Start grooming young. A puppy who gets used to grooming early will tolerate it as an adult. Wait too long and you've got a dog who fights you every single time.
Brush their teeth. Small dogs get dental disease fast. Brushing their teeth prevents infections, tooth loss, and those $1,500 dental cleanings under anesthesia.
Watch those ears. Poms get ear infections easily. Clean them regularly but gently, and check for redness, weird smells, or if your dog won't stop scratching them.
Keep nails short. Long nails hurt. They make walking uncomfortable and can mess up your Pom's joints. If you hear clicking on the floor, they're too long.
